The Pittsburgh Project

A nonprofit organization

Our year-round staff of 28 (13 full-time and 15 part-time), along with more than 50 additional summer staff, operate a progressive series of afterschool programs and summer camps for more than 250 urban young people, deploys more than 2,000 people annually to perform free home repairs for more than 130 of Pittsburgh's in-need elderly homeowners, and provides the community with a safe place to swim and play during the summer at Fowler Park and Pool.

We run a progressive series of afterschool and summer programs designed to cultivate leaders among more than 250 children and youth who live on Pittsburgh's urban North Side. Outcomes include academic achievement, healthy relationships, character and faith development, transformation of culture, and service to others. One year-round effort is our Leaders-In-Training program, designed to help high school students grow into their full potential as tomorrow's leaders. It offers participants individual and small group mentoring, paid on-the-job training, opportunities for community service, specialized tutoring, higher education preparation, and college scholarships. Over 95 percent of the students who completed this program since 2002 have successfully transitioned from high school into institutions of higher education, the military, or the workforce.
