Three Rivers Rowing Association

A nonprofit organization

We develop and deliver safe, sustainable programs and events that teach and promote the benefits of rowing and paddling to our diverse community.

Three Rivers Rowing Association (TRRA) develops and delivers safe, sustainable programs and events that teach and promote the benefits of rowing and paddling to a diverse, growing membership. TRRA was founded on the principle that opportunities to row should be available for everyone - and we continue to offer programs at a much lower price-point than other rowing programs in Pittsburgh and across the United States. Located on a formally undeveloped site along the Allegheny River, TRRA has grown into one of the largest rowing associations in the country since its founding thirty-one years ago. With more than 400 adult members and 2,000 participants taking to the river each year, TRRA is a diverse, dedicated community of rowers and paddlers. Whether through our junior rowing program, rowing camps and classes, and learn to row days or as a member of one of six masters rowing or paddling teams - we work to ensure that everyone has affordable access to the sport of rowing.

TRRA is committed to two community outreach programs that expand rowing and paddling participation to underserved individuals. The first, Adaptive Rowing and Paddling, is a program that offers athletes (12 years and older) with physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities the chance to enjoy the fun, challenge, and relaxation of rowing and paddling. The second, First Row, is a rowing program for high school girls who come from economically disadvantaged Pittsburgh communities. First Row is provided cost-free to participants, and encourages rowing, personal, and team skills.
