Tails High

We work with the local animal shelters, other rescue groups, the public, and "trappers" to rescue and re-home as many cats as our foster network and bank account can support.

Every year hundreds of thousands of cats and kittens are abandoned, lost, or surrendered to "kill" shelters, or just kicked out into the street when their people move away, die, or just don't want them any longer.  Many of these cats have not been surgically altered and are adding to the on-going problems by reproducing 2-4 times a year.

Each female typically delivers 4-7 kittens in each litter. She will then look for another mate before her kittens are even 3 months old.  And, the cycle repeats continuously.

In the past 7.5 years we've rescued almost 1300 cats and kittens and spayed or neutered every one of them who hadn’t already had the surgery.  In addition we microchip and test each Tails High cat for Feline Leukemia and FIV.

While preparing rescued cats for adoption and placing them in new homes is our primary mission, we do many other things.

    When possible, Tails High will provide food, litter, and spay/neuter and vaccine assistance to people who want to keep their cats but are unable to financially support them right now.

    We provide supplies and medical support to our volunteers who take care of feral colonies and participate in TNR activities; and when they have friendly strays or litters of young kittens they become Tails High cats.

    We offer temporary custody services to people who need a short term temporary home for their cats for reasons such as surgery, other health-related issues, or escaping abusive situations.

    When we are able, we accept special needs cats and provide hospice care for cats in need.

Your one-time or on-going donation will help us feed, house, spay/neuter, and medically support more cats in need.

In addition to financial donations, we welcome people who want to join our foster parent network, provide support at our adoption events, feed our cats at the Annandale Petco, or help out in many other ways.
