“When me and my Pop went fishing,it was my first time fishing with him. My Pop didn’t get any fish and I was the only one who caught fish. I caught three…and they were really big!”
– Molly, age 12
Our Mission: The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation’s (RBFF) mission is to implement an informed, consensus-based national outreach strategy that will increase participation in recreational angling and boating and thereby increase public awareness and appreciation of the need to protect, conserve and restore this nation's aquatic natural resources.
Our Tools: RBFF has developed a wide variety of programs and products that make it easy for people to get involved in recreational boating and fishing. Under their national Take Me Fishing™ campaign and Anglers’ Legacy™program, RBFF provides the tools to help people get started. They also remind lapsed boaters and anglers—people who enjoy the sport but no longer participate—about the joy they’ve been missing. The centerpiece of RBFF is TakeMeFishing.org because it is the key destination for consumers to go and take action. Whether it’s planning a trip, exploring their dream boat, buying a fishing license or checking out the latest equipment, TakeMeFishing.org is the most comprehensive boating and fishing website available nationwide.
Our Record: Every year, RBFF gives millions of people — from elementary school students to great-grandparents — the information, encouragement, opportunity, materials and education they need to go fishing and boating and to be good environmental stewards while doing so. In doing so, RBFF helps generate millions of dollars for wildlife and natural resource conservation.
WHY SUPPORT RBFF’S MISSION?
Good Name: Millions of Americans and more than a billion outings per year – boating and fishing aren’t simply pastimes; they’re passions. Supporting RBFF will provide much needed funds to run programs around the country to promote family togetherness, youth engagement with outdoor activities and aquatic conservation efforts.
RBFF brands and programs attract highly motivated newcomers and enthusiasts in very large numbers
• Take Me Fishing™ Brand = More than 638 million consumer impressions annually
• TakeMeFishing.org = Nearly 4 million unique visits in 2010
• Anglers’ Legacy™ = More than 260,000 Ambassadors
• Youth Programs = More than 700,000 youth engaged in 2010
Good Will: Because RBFF is a not-for-profit organization, its many successes are measured not by a monetary bottom line, but by how many people we help connect to the water and to each other. By collaborating with key partners — conservation communities, state and federal agencies, recreation and tourism groups and other education and advocacy organizations — RBFF works to increase the number of people involved in recreational boating and fishing activities. This, in turn, helps ensure the state and federal funding needed for conservation.
Good Business: Contributing to RBFF means you are investing in an established campaign that captures the interest of millions. You can be sure that RBFF will use your money effectively and efficiently. In 2010, 93% of funding went directly toward furthering the mission of RBFF through the programs, marketing and outreach.
