The Journey Through Hallowed Ground (JTHG) Partnership is a non-profit, four-state partnership dedicated to raising awareness of the unparalleled American heritage in the region running from Gettysburg, PA., through Maryland and Harpers Ferry, W.VA., to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, VA. With more history than any other region in the nation, the JTHG was recognized by Congress as a National Heritage Area and offers award-winning educational programs for students of all ages.
“This can be an example for our country. It can change the way we are teaching our children. You are contributing to education far beyond what any of us can conceive... And THIS is a big idea.” David McCullough, a Pulitzer Prize winning writer and historian
“I can think of no other stretch of ground in this country that more epitomizes who we are as a people; what it took for us to become who were are, than the Journey Through Hallowed Ground.” John Nau, Chairman, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation
“What the Journey is doing, I think, is just magnificent. They are bringing all the history of this area to life.” Dr. Robert Sutton, Chief Historian of the National Park Service
Student Camp Survey: Students were asked, What was your favorite part of the camp: "Is that a trick question, I loved it all!"
Parent Camp Survey: "I love the width & breadth of the camp: history, film-making, opportunity to visit great sites, leadership skills. THANK YOU." and "This is how teaching should always be."
