Tall Ship Providence...bringing history to life!

The Tall Ship Providence Foundation's Education Program provides young people a hands-on, interactive experience rich in American history, STEM and life skills aboard the tall ship, Providence.

The 4th Grade Field Trip Program (FTP) provides students from Title One schools and other under resourced areas the opportunity to visit the Maritime Heritage Center and experience an immersive, onsite experience free of charge (including the cost of bus transportation).

The program is intended to inspire young people to leave their desks and devices behind and learn STEM concepts...and a bit about their nation's history... in an authentic maritime setting.

Building on the overwhelming success of the 4th Grade Field Trip Program, we will be launching the Middle School Field Trip Program in 2025 which will explore increased levels of STEM and history with the added component of Civics.

TSPF hopes to serve over 2000 students through its Education Program in 2025!

The Tall Ship Providence Team

Who We Are

Tall Ship Providence Foundation is bringing history to life on Alexandria's Old Town Marina. The original Providence was the first ship authorized by the Continental Congress to serve in the Continental Navy and the first American command of John Paul Jones; Providence spent four years in the American Revolutionary War. Our Providence is a reproduction built for the bi-centennial.

TSPF offers 30-minute tours of Providence throughout the year. In addition, we have themed cruises between April and October and additional programming for students and Scouts throughout the year. The ship is also available for private charters, birthday parties and private dinners.
