MISSION STATEMENT

 The mission of Palmer Place (Talladega County Child Advocacy Center) is to protect children, reduce the affects of trauma, including the trauma of multiple investigation and interviews, disclosures and court appearances, and to facilitate joint investigations and follow-up services to child victims of sexual abuse, serious physical abuse or neglect.

 The Talladega County Child Advocacy Center, Inc. (Palmer Place) was incorporated in 2001 as a private, non-profit organization.

 The Articles of Incorporation include the following statement of Purpose:

A.  To provide a center to receive complaints and to provide a non-institutional place for coordination of interviews between law enforcement agencies, the Department of Human Resources (DHR), and the District Attorney’s Office for minors who are victims of physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or other forms of abuse.

B.  To provide assistance to such victims during the legal process whether or not prosecution occurs and to provide assistance to such victims who will be witnesses in a legal proceeding against the perpetrator.

C.  To provide information and referral services to such victims and their parents or guardians concerning the following: their legal rights and responsibilities, available counseling and social services, income assistance, available health care, and education alternatives.

             D. To provide or make arrangements for counseling services for such victims and their parents or guardians including, but not limited to, crisis intervention, group support, and. individual counseling.

E.  To conduct educational workshops and seminars for the purpose of making the community aware of the problems of child abuse, the prevention of such abuse and the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of children subject to such abuse and for the purpose of prevention and of making children aware that sexual contact and or other forms of abuse are illegal, in particular to inform the children to tell officials or other adults if they are such victims.
