There are currently 2,200 healthcare job vacancies in the Big Bend.

OUR GOAL: Establish post-high school scholarships and other support for students at James S. Rickards High School who enroll in Rickard’s Millicent Holifield Academy of Health Sciences. Not only will your donation help these students obtain specialized skillsets, it will prepare them for a rewarding career and help alleviate the critical shortage of well-trained healthcare providers. 

The Deadline is this Friday, Aug. 12, to advance to the next round of consideration for further grant support!

Your generosity will fund scholarships to further their education post-high school as well as shadowing and mentoring programs at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.  

Here’s the problem…

Like many healthcare organizations in the Big Bend area, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is working hard to meet current staffing needs in several key clinical areas while building a workforce pipeline to meet future needs.

Obstacles to clinical staffing include degree programs that are not local and difficulty recruiting new graduates who don’t have ties to Tallahassee.

Here’s the solution...

James S. Rickards High School offers a Health Sciences Academy for students interested in the medical field. This program provides graduates with a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate that they earn in conjunction with their high school curriculum. 

With funding support through the TMH Foundation, TMH is working with the Millicent Holifield Health Sciences Academy at Rickards High School to create a comprehensive program that will:

1. Add valuable shadowing opportunities for the Health Sciences Academy students to explore many clinical professions;
2. Expand clinical certification options and curriculum that may be offered in the Health Sciences Academy;
3. Provide scholarship support for students to pursue higher education degrees that fulfill critical-need clinical positions.
