Osprey Conservation and Research
$300 Raised
Tampa Bay Raptor Rescue operates Moccasin Lake Raptor Sanctuary and participates in rescuing and stabilizing birds of prey. We are a grass roots organization, formed in 2014, dedicated to educating local government, businesses and residents how to co-exist with and support nature in urban areas. A good example would be our advocacy regarding rodenticide, this centuries DDT. Tremendous effort went to the Safety Harbor Owls and using sound science we proved the cause of death was rodenticide. The sanctuary hosts extraordinary avian ambassadors. Among the birds that need permanent care are 3 peregrine falcons, 2 swallow-tailed kites, 2 bald eagles, an osprey, hawks, owls and vultures. Raptors in the Atlantic Flyway, Global Raptors, Birds of War, and the Importance of Conservation in Central Florida are among the many topics we discuss. We are 100% dependant on public donations and do not have any paid staff.
