Tappers With Attitude

Since 1994, Tappers With Attitude, through its Knock On Wood Tap Studio, has continued to redefine conventional tap dance, serving a diverse student body and offering classes for all levels and age groups in Takoma Park and the DC metropolitan area. The studio is one of only a few facilities of its kind in the United States.

Throughout the tap community, KOW is recognized as a standard bearer for its tap-only program, the professionalism of its instructors, and its emphasis on musicality and tap history. KOW offers classes, workshops, and tap intensives for ages 4 to adult, beginners to professionals.

Knock on Wood Tap Studio is one of a few dance studios in the country dedicated to the art of rhythm tap, an art form that allows the body to become a percussive instrument. Rhythm tap is not the kind of tap you see on Broadway. Its roots are in jazz and most of its history is passed down word of mouth and through the foot. KOW is dedicated to passing down this rich history.

KOW's resident performing company, Capitol Tap, provides tap dancers age 9-25 an opportunity to grow as dancers, musicians, performers, and historians.
