The Teal Foundation was founded by Laurie DeSimone and her family after Laurie was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer in December of 2012.  After undergoing her first round of chemotherapy, Laurie took part in an ovarian cancer 5K run/walk in the Los Angeles area as a physical challenge against her cancer.  Entering the park where the event was held and seeing a "sea of teal" was such an emotional and uplifting experience that she vowed to bring an event to the San Francisco Bay area.

Last year, we started The Teal Foundation and held our inaugural 5K, The Teal Run, in Campbell.  The event raised net funds of over $38,000, which will go toward Cancer CAREpoint, Bay Area Cancer Connections, Stanford Cancer Institute, and national research.  The event provided a day of hope, love, and support for the women and their friends and family who are dealing or have dealt with the effects of ovarian cancer.

Sadly, Laurie passed away on November 1, 2015; however, her legacy lives on through the work of The Teal Foundation.  We will be holding another 5K in Campbell Park on September 24th and would be most grateful if you could make a donation to help us support our cause and to honor and remember the women with ovarian cancer.  Let them know that they are not alone in their fight!
