Team Survivor Tampa Bay Inc

Formed in 2004 Team Survivor Tampa Bay’s “Pink Dragon Ladies®” is the first cancer survivor dragon boat team in Florida.   We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 incorporated in the State of Florida.  Our programs are free and open to women of all ages and fitness levels. Many of our participants are struggling to return to health and fitness after many months or even many years of cancer treatment that are both physically debilitating and emotionally draining. Many of us have recovered and offer encouragement to those in need.

One of the hardest things for many breast cancer survivors is the loss of confidence. The Pink Dragon Ladies have given us the confidence to no longer think of ourselves as victims, but as thrivers and courageous athletes fighting back from the disease. Dragon boat paddling provides regular aerobic exercise and builds upper body strength which is an area of weakness for breast cancer survivors.

The Pink Dragon Ladies provide a variety of programs and services to our members. Our organization supplies and maintains a boat and paddles for member use and offers practice three times a week with a great coach.  We also cover the costs associated with the boat such as insurance and storage fees. We pay for team race registration fees to enter dragon boat races that are held throughout the year.  We provide our members opportunities to network and form friendships with other women affected by cancer.

In order to provide the physical fitness opportunities that we offer to our members, we incur approximately $17,000 in annual expenses.  We are seeking sponsors to support our programs and help pay our expenses so we can continue to grow our program and community envolvment.
