Teens of Color Abroad

Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA) is an award-winning nonprofit organization that provides high school students of color with global language learning opportunities. By directly confronting the racial disparities in study abroad, language learning, and cultural exchange programs, our aim is to enhance our students' language learning experiences, augment their educational outcomes, and strengthen their global competency skills.

Founded in 2018 by Brooklyn-based educator Lamar Shambley, TOCA has sponsored passports for more than 20 students, served over 1,000 youth through virtual and in-person initiatives, and awarded nearly $200,000 in language learning and study abroad scholarships.
