Temple Heights Elementary is a Title 1 school that draws its 650+ students from the cities of Oceanside and Vista. Over 60% of our students come from lower income families and 42% are English Language Learners.
Despite these obstacles, the dedicated teachers and staff of Temple Heights have a created a community of caring and high-achieving students:
- The California Standards Test (CST) passing rate for our English Language Learners was the highest in the district.
- Based on the Academic Performance Index (API), Temple Heights outperforms at least 80% of statistically similar California schools.
One of the components to Temple Heights’ success is our school-wide music program. All of our students –Kindergarten through 5th grade - receive Music Education every week. Lessons in musical instruments, appreciation, history, and performance are all a part of the yearlong curriculum. The program supports the development of good citizenship/character and integrates skills and experiences gained in the academic classrooms.

The Common Core Standards are coming! Temple Heights is preparing our students for the 21st Century by integrating the use of Ipads in our classrooms. These tools allow our students to develop technology based skills while practicing traditional reading, writing, mathematical, analytical, and core subject activities.
