Addicts are dying every day, it's a very sad reality. But there's especially no excuse when an addict dies simply because they could not find help.

Over the past few years our founder, Jean Krisle, has been focused on helping addicts find help. This required her to talk to hundreds of addicts, and many did not have insurance or resources of any kind to cover the cost of treatment.

Simultaneously, as Jean was touring numerous treatment centers throughout the US, there always seemed to be empty beds.

These two experiences in the addiction industry did not add up for Jean: People needed help but could not afford it, and treatment centers need clients but had empty beds.

And from these experiences came 10,000 Beds (Ten Thousand Beds Inc). We work with treatment centers throughout the US to provide scholarship beds (at least 30 days of scholarship treatment) to addicts who have hit bottom, have no resources, no other option, and are ready - they both need and want help.

A 23-year old meth addict sleeping on his mother's lawn in Arizona because she can't let him in and he has no where else to go. A frantic father searching for help for his 19-year old addict daughter who's been sexually abused and used by her boyfriend to score drugs. A frightened 60-year old mother running down the dark streets of a large metropolitan city, chasing her heroin-addicted son in an attempt to save his life.

These are just a few of the stories we remember from the past year of helping addicts find treatment and begin their road to recovery. The people who are impacted by the 10,000 Beds Scholarships are exactly why your support is so important.

Addiction is the neighbor next door. Addicts are our friends, family, teachers, clergy, veterans, physicians, employed and unemployed, and there is no exception when it comes to race, age, gender or religion.
