In Teton Valley, we are blessed with spectacular scenery, clean air and water, abundant wildlife, and a rural character. Teton Valley Community Recycling (TVCR) wants to keep it that way.
We were instrumental in bringing the first sustainable recycling program to Teton Valley, and we continue to work with the county to improve and expand current operations.
However, diversion rates in Teton Valley hover at just over 15% (up from 12.8% just one year ago), while the national average is 34.1% and rising. TVCR has set a goal to meet the national average for waste diversion in ten years, and we need your help to do it.
Our outreach programs inform residents of the appropriate way to dispose of hazardous waste and electronics, materials that threaten our water quality if disposed of improperly. Recycling, diversion, and composting programs reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill, saving the county thousands of dollars in disposal costs while bringing in revenue from the sale of recyclables and creating jobs in our community. Our reuse and redistribution programs honor the values of our grandparents, when resources were shared and nothing went to waste.
TVCR is dedicated to providing education programs to every lower and upper elementary school in Teton Valley, ensuring that the next generation has the knowledge needed to make wise decisions that protect our natural resources and heritage. We would like to expand our education programs to include the middle school and, eventually, the high school. But we need your help.
Your donation will help Teton Valley Community Recycling to:
- Increase educational programming to include upper grade levels.
- Complete a waste diversion plan that will outline what we need to do to reach the national average for waste diversion in ten years.
-Improve community outreach about hazardous waste disposal and e-waste recycling.
Thank you for helping keep Teton Valley beautiful!
