The Center for Healthy Generations

The Center for Healthy Generations became a non-profit in 1983.  Since 1988 we have provided year round water exercise classes from gentle, intermediate and aerobic for over 1100 participates, including swimming classes for preschoolers.  In addition we offer land-based exercise classes for between 250-275 adults (including Silver-Sneakers exercise program); yoga classes, water-color classes, sewing classes, guitar classes, etc.  Our participants consist of adults, senior citizens, adults with disabilities and preschoolers.  Many participants are referred by doctors or a physical therapists.

Our center operates entirely with a staff of over 50 volunteers.  All personnel of the organization including our instructors are certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.

We have found that participation in our programs have truly helped people that have physical or mental challenges (depression) within a relatively short time.  Some people come to The Center only able to walk with a cane or walker, and are too depressed or angry to even talk.  Because of their physical limitations, they have become isolated.  Within a couple of months, they are walking without assistance and have as much brighter outlook on life.  Both children and adults who don't know how to swim and/or are afraid of the water learn how to swim and are comfortable and water safe.
