Children's Policy Council of Jefferson County

What can we do about Alabama's high poverty rate and its affect on children? What about our high school dropout rate? How can children’s' parents have jobs that provide economic security if the parents don't have the basic education for today's jobs? How can we make sure children now and in the future have healthy diets? Places to play? Quality after school programs?

The Children’s Policy Council (CPC) is the only organization in Jefferson County connecting people to advocate on all of these issues. We have volunteer work groups focusing on early care and education, education, economic security, safety, health and mentoring. Each group touches a different aspect of our children’s lives. Without the dedication of these volunteers and donations our work would not be possible.

We CAN make our world better for children, but we cannot do it alone. Because of the CPC individuals, agencies and organizations join together to find ways to meet the needs of children in Jefferson County. The CPC reaches nearly 2,000 individuals and180 agencies through email blasts and monthly forums.  The CPC keeps the Jefferson County community informed,  and makes sure  our contacts receive timely and accurate information in order for all of us to work together to make a difference in ways that will improve the future  for Jefferson County children.

Donations make it possible to reach out to others throughout the county who work to make life better for children, to increase everyone's access to information and resources that increase the efficiency of services for children. Donations provide funds to develop projects, programs, work groups and networking opportunities that increase awareness of the needs of children and resources for meeting those needs.
