The Crisis Hot Line Inc

The Crisis Hotline provides the only 24-hour crisis intervention and referral service for the residents of and visitors to the Wood River Valley.  Calls are received from all age groups including children and the elderly, and from all economic backgrounds.  Our dedicated, trained, nonjudgmental counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide crisis intervention support ~ a caring, listening ear to those who may have lost hope, and to provide referrals and resources to help them explore and define their options.  Each call is confidential, anonymous and free.   Whether it's a family, personal or work issue, we listen and offer resources to help, enabling callers to take positive steps forward.

Many of the issues the Crisis Hotline assists with are life and death, and the importance of our services lies in providing intervention early.  For many people suffering hardships, the task of seeking professional help can be daunting and even unavailable because of financial distress.  The battered spouse, abused child, or destitute adult has someone to call anonymously, and will get the tools they need to find success at no cost.  Suicide and other crises can almost always be avoided with early detection and proper intervention. 
The Crisis Hotline:
Provides confidential, 24-hour telephone-based crisis intervention and referral services;
Maintains a high level of training for all volunteers as well as a high level of volunteer commitment to service;
Provides educational opportunities to the community on subjects of concern  to callers where no other local organization is already providing such information;
Maximizes the services of the Crisis Hotline to the Wood River Valley student population, and provides hand out materials on a tri-monthly basis at all Middle Schools and High Schools.
