The Crossing

We are the crossing: an unlikely band of pilgrims and heretics, students and artists, mystics and activists, following the radical and subversive way of Jesus. Sharing our lives with each other, we are transformed into Christ’s likeness and filled with God’s passion and power. We strive to live with authenticity and intentionality, to be of and with the marginalized and excluded, and to embody the love, beauty, and justice of God in the city of Boston.

The Crossing began in 2006 with a group of young adults wishing to share spiritual practices and meals. What all of them had in common was a hunger for a new kind of church and a positive vision. It grew with a desire to welcome all and became a safer home for those rejected by other churches, often because of their gender identity or sexual expression.

The Crossing's primary ministry is providing a welcoming worship space for LGBTQIA+ folks. We joyfully lead the local Episcopal Diocese's presence at Pride and have also held space for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance that takes place each fall. We affirm and support all identities that are cultivated with and for love. We strive for inclusive language in our liturgy, and hope to be a welcoming and safe space for all. We are also committed to lay leadership, to ensure that everyone in our community is capable of making change or supporting nourishing work as it already exists.
