LIFE, Learning Is For Everyone

PROMOTING LITERACY

The LIFE Foundation is dedicated to promoting and supporting classroom, school, and community based special projects related to learning and literacy. Through funding these innovative projects, The Foundation helps teachers and DKG CA chapters touch the lives of children throughout California.  Chapters, as well as individuals (DKG members and non-members), are encouraged to apply for a grant for learning and literacy projects from the DKG California LIFE Foundation. 

The LIFE Foundation has been providing grant funds for learning and literacy projects throughout California since 1999. Here are some ways LIFE has impacted children:   

• $200 was awarded to a grant that provided new and gently used books for 45 to 55 young children of single parents who enrolled in a community college.  $750 of LIFE funds helped purchase 800 copies of “The Wind and the Willows”which were distributed throughout one county as part of a Book in Common project.      
• $1000 purchased fiction and nonfiction books about robots and robotics for 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school to support their GATEprogram.     
• $1000 provided a first-grade classroom with leveled books with science andsocial science themes.   
• $1000 purchased audio books with matching hardcover books for elementary school students.

100% of the Giving Tuesday Donations will go directly to grants to provide educators with the funds necessary to enrich and expand the literacy programs and projects in their classrooms.
