The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Inc

The face of hunger in our community is one we might recognize. In Western Massachusetts alone, there are more than 211,000 individuals struggling with food insecurity. Many of our neighbors who are seeking food assistance have jobs, raise families, work toward education and struggle with health problems. Many families that are experiencing food insecurity are forced to make crucial choices to keep food on the table, such as paying for food, or paying for housing, utilities or vital medication.

Through a number of programs, The Food Bank is working to bring healthy food to those throughout our region who are struggling to make ends meet. Our Mobile Food Bank program has grown to 14 distribution sites throughout Western Massachusetts, and provided more than 887,700 pounds of fresh, healthy food to 22,081 individuals last year. Our Brown Bag: Food For Elders program continues to provide a bag of groceries to approximately 5,000 seniors each month, with foods specifically selected to meet their special dietary requirements. Overall, The Food Bank distributed more than 9.9 million pounds of food to Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties last year.
