Founded in 1992, the Friends organization has established itself as a highly effective steward of Rickwood Field, having completed $1.5M in re-investment to the park, ensuring the park's continued role as a high profile baseball venue, living history museum, and dynamic educational site. Our schedule consists of approximately 200 games and events each year, including the annual Rickwood Classic throw-back ball game.

Opened in 1910, Rickwood Field served as the home park for the Birmingham Barons and the Birmingham Black Barons, and hosted the play of more than 100 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The park also contributed significantly to the shaping of Birmingham's communit identity and civic pride, and remains today both an economic and cultural community asset.
