Green River Preserve

Green River Preserve is a non-competitive, coed summer camp connecting children with nature. Located on a 3,400 acre private wildlife preserve in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, this natural setting inspires campers to have a greater understanding of themselves, their environment, and their fellow man. Designed for bright, curious, and creative children, our program nurtures character development and fosters skills like perseverance, curiosity, communication, optimism, creativity, and grit.

Purposefully small, our enrollment is limited to 116 campers per session. Green River Preserve offers 1, 2,  3-week summer camp sessions for campers in the rising 2nd through 9th grades and high school expedition programs for rising 9th graders through college freshmen.

Green River Preserve’s focus on nature connection is what makes us different from other summer camps. Each day, participants spend all morning in the forest with professional naturalists who facilitate self-directed learning, discovery, and camper-driven play.  Campers learn how to identify the flora and fauna in the forest, to track animals, to use macro-invertebrates to understand the health of an aquatic ecosystem, and to walk the land. A connection to nature and an appreciation for the environment is the core of the Green River experience.
