The Helping Hands of Clemson Inc

Helping Hands, an emergency shelter and foster home for
abused and neglected children, is located in a largely rural area of upstate
South Carolina. We received our non-profit status in 1982 and opened the doors
to the Shelter in 1984. Since that time, we have provided a loving home and shelter
for approximately 8000 children. 

 Hundreds of
children are placed in foster care each year due to abuse and/or neglect. As of
Aug. 2, 2011, according to the SC Department of Social Services, 787 children
from Anderson, Greenville, Oconee and Pickens counties have been place in state
care.

We are here to provide a safe and nurturing home for
approximately 20% of these less fortunate children while DSS investigates each
case.  While in our care the children are
provided shelter, nutritious meals, age appropriate clothing, and access to
health care. We also provide the things they really need; someone to talk to, a
shoulder to cry on, boo-boos made better, love and attention.
