“Imagine being on top of the world and in the period of seven days, you are forced to see the frailty, unfairness and the wonder of life. I decided to use my name and my God-given talent to make a difference in the lives of terminally ill children,” said Marty Lyons. After losing both his dad and a little boy he was a Big Brother to and while celebrating the birth of his first son, Marty Lyons went through a roller coaster of a week in March of 1982. With the support of family and friends – he founded the Marty Lyons Foundation. Our heroic children and their families are on that ride every day. Their journey started on top of the world but soon they were faced with the unfairness and wonder of life. By fulfilling wishes, MLF is able to provide a moment of happiness amidst the daily anguish to families living with the realities of an ill child. The wishes are vehicles through which the children and their families enjoy and create positive memories while experiencing a brief period of normalcy without doctors or hospitals. Every child has their own special dream, and although we can’t promise a lifetime of happiness to these seriously-ill children, we can make these dreams become a reality!
