NAMI Flagstaff is a local affiliate for National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI Flagstaff provides support and educational groups for individuals with mental illness, their family, and friend. By guiding and helping families to learn techniques in dealing with the mentally ill, NAMI indirectly and directly helps to improve the quality of life of all affected.

Recently, NAMI Flagstaff took on a new parternship with the City of Flagstaff Aquaplex. This collaboaration is called the NAMI Wellness project. The NAMI Wellness project helps support individuals with a serious mental illness through strength training, conditioning, and dietary education. The average life span of someone in America with a serious mental illness is 25 years less than that of someone without, and in the state of Arizona, the life span is 30 years less.

The NAMI Wellness Project has been measurable success and most importantly tremendous attitude and function improvements. Continuation of these services is essential to build upon and support the gains each uniquly troubled individual has worked so hard to accomplish. Each partipant has clearly demonstrated how their position in society has improved and how their improvement will now assist others in the world they share.
