Sojourner Truth, nationally-known black suffragist and abolitionist, lived in Florence, MA from 1844-1857.

Today, the volunteer-driven Sojourner Truth Memorial Committee honors Truth's legacy with annual high school scholarships and educational projects in Western Massachusetts.

Our scholarships recognize high school students who have done work furthering the cause of racial, social, and economic justice both locally and in other parts of the world.

Our educational programs share the story of Sojourner Truth's time in Florence with elementary, high school and college students, as well as community groups. These programs include walking tours, reading materials, and online resources.

Please consider supporting the scholarship and educational programs with a gift during #ValleyGives2016!
