The Unity Care Group

Unity Care offers a wide range of services benefiting disadvantaged and foster youth and their families throughout Northern California. Its signature program, founded in 1993, focuses on serving the housing needs of youth in foster care and beyond. The organization’s mission has grown and expanded over the past two decades and, today, includes more than a dozen community-based, education and behavioral health programs, aiding approximately 5,500 underserved youth and families annually.

Funds raised support Unity Care's ongoing efforts to provide foster care youth with its "Five Pillars of Success" philosophy: Housing, Education, Employment, Well-Being and Unconditional Care.

All too often, while inside the foster care system, foster youth are left to fend for themselves without appropriate life skills or a stable adult support system. André Chapman, Founder and CEO said, “It is a tragedy that over half of the foster youth that emancipate from the foster care system become homeless across our nation. Unity Care has aggressively addressed this problem by developing innovative affordable housing solutions." He continued, "Today we are able to provide over 100 slots of transitional and affordable housing to foster youth.  We give them an opportunity to live in a safe environment where they can focus on education, employment and life skills. We’ve provided them with a solid foundation for a better future."

Additionally, funds will also support our Summer of Learning program. There are many of us that have positive childhood memories, however; there are many youth in our community who have traumatic memories stemming from abuse and neglect.  Each summer, Unity Care collects donations and works with community partners to give our foster children and families rewarding, meaningful educational and outdoor activities.

You can help make summertime fun, educational, physical and explorative for foster youth and families! A camping trip, college tour or a fun day at the park will give our children positive memories to last a lifetime.
