Through prevention and intervention programs, WYN specializes in providing youth with the tools they need to reach their potential and discover their place in our community and in our world. For 30 years, WYN has been investsing  in the lives of children and youth in order to build a better future and a stronger community for the northwest North Carolina High Country. Every day we see lives being transformed.

Consider Bobby, a 7th grader who was referred to WYN's mentoring program because of his anger issues. He found life at home and at school very challenging due to emotional trauma he had experienced and internalized. After a year of being partnered with a mentor, Bobby is playing sports, wants to finish high school, and plans to join the military. Courtney, a 6th grader in our After School and Summer Programs, said that WYN was the only place where she felt safe and “wasn’t made fun of.” Courtney has made huge strides in her self-esteem through activities such as gardening, horseback riding, and hiking. She is becoming a leader.

We truly are “raising a community” and we do this by providing unique and quality programming that offers individualized support to over 2,300 children and youth each year.
