The Barnacle Society

The Barnacle Society produces numerous events, celebrations, and special activities at The Barnacle Historic State Park (@historicbarnacle) generating funds to support the preservation and maintenance of The Park, which includes more than five acres of uplands, five acres of submerged lands in Biscayne Bay, the historic Barnacle House. Boathouse, Carriage House, and Micco Pavilion. These events include:

• Barnacle Under Moonlight Concert Series featuring live music (September through May)
• Movies in the Park, sponsored by Business Improvement District
• Shakespeare in The Park (January)
• The Washington's Birthday Regatta, the re-creation of the first Regatta (1887) held on Biscayne Bay (February)
• Earth Day Celebration (April)
• Woofstock (May)
• Cars & Cigars Father's Day Celebration (June)
• Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Picnic
• Christmas in the Park
• The Commodore's Birthday Party (April 3, 1851), the major annual fund-raiser for The Barnacle Society

Major initiatives to be funded with income provided by these events (normally) and, this year, your Give Miami Day donations, include:
• Replacement of the unique Boathouse roof ($32,000)
• Landscape Master Plan including erosion mitigation, better public access, and future sea-level rise planning ($150,000)
• The Egret, a reproduction of Ralph Munroe's most well-known sharpie sailboat, kept in sailing condition at The Barnacle ($5,000/yr., maintenance)

Over the years your gifts and grants to The Barnacle Society have made the following possible:
• Repairs to The Barnacle's porch
• Restoration of the Boathouse foundation
• Boathouse hurricane restoration in 2005 and 2017
• Handicapped-accessible walkway to The Barnacle House
• Re-roofing the Carriage House
• Fire suppression system for The Barnacle House and Boathouse
• Purchase and maintenance of the EZ Limo
