The History Center

The History Center collects, preserves, and provides access to the historical records of our region and its people for the educational benefit of present and future generations. By collecting, preserving, and making accessible our community's history, we tell its stories. As a result, society will learn and use historical thinking skills to actively engage with and address contemporary issues and to value history for its relevance to modern life.

Our growing collections include 5,000 cubic feet of manuscripts and archives, more than 1 million photographs, some 20,000 maps, and more than 500 fully transcribed and text-searchable oral history audio recordings, among many other records freely accessible by the public.
