Lowlander Center

Based in the bayous of Louisiana, the Lowlander Center is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization supporting lowland people and places through rebuilding fortified homes, providing a path to energy independence, environmental restoration projects and facilitating education, research and advocacy. Learning from the past, using rich traditional ecological and historied knowledge, and bridging available technical support and resources, in partnership we explore and find paths for problem solving. Our focus is on helping to rebuild coastal and inland communities using fortified building and renewable energy technologies and addressing land loss. Lowlander views human and environmental rights as core values for a resilient future . We function in collaboration with a diverse group of committed individuals and organizations who share values for environmental resilience, clean energy, and social wellbeing. Partners include the First Peoples Conservation Council, Rise St. James, CRCL, Harvard University, NRCS, Disaster Justice Network, Bill Anderson Fund, and many more……•
