Theatreworks of Northern Nevada

TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada is a non-profit theatre company now in our 12th season of providing quality theater productions and performing arts education in Northern Nevada. Our focus on the Underserved in our Community allows for ALL to participate in the performing arts as either a performer or spectator! Our company believes in intergenerational casts where children can work side by side with seasoned area professionals to learn in an active and supportive environment. As a teaching theatre children, teens and young adults have the opportunity to learn skills in acting, tech and stage management!!

TheatreWorks is the only local theatre company to regularly be included in the Artown Family Series at Wingfield Park. Our partnership with Artown endorses our quality, vision, and value to our community. Every summer, our Artown production is seen by thousands of spectators in Wingfield Park, free of charge. We also present our Artown show to the children, doctors and families at Renown Children's Hospital in partnership with their Healing Arts Program! 

We believe strongly that outreach and inclusion are the best ways for us to improve the quality of life for our community.  Positive outlets for artistic and emotional expression are sorely lacking amongst many populations in the Truckee Meadows and we strive every day to fill those gaps. In addition to our weekly acting classes taught at Our Center, TheatreWorks also offers free classes weekly classes to the youth and teens residing at the Volunteers of America Family Shelter and bi-weekly classes for the children at Kid’s Kottage, an emergency foster care facility located in Reno. We also partner with The Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows providing weekly classes and workshops through the afterschool programs all of which culminate in an end of session Showcase. Boys & Girls Club children also get to take part in making props and set pieces for our Annual Artown Show!! All participants in our outreach classes are invited to apply for scholarships to further their performing arts education in our weekly acting classes.  As part of our annual Artown production we visit the hospital patients and staff touring the children’s ward in character and full costume.

Our seasons are planned to allow us to continue to share with our community the love of the performing arts through our affordable and broad-reaching performances and our consistent outreach efforts.
