The Cat Committee

A nonprofit organization

The Cat Committee's mission is to humanely decrease the homeless cat population and euthanasia rate of cats in the Mount Pleasant area. We aim to promote good health of community cats through sterilization, vaccinations, and community education.

Formed in January 2009, The Cat Committee is a non-profit 501c3 organization that is implementing a "Trap-Neuter-Return" (TNR) program in an attempt to humanely address the over-population of stray cats in the Mount Pleasant area. Stray cats are trapped, taken to a vet to be spayed/neutered, given a rabies shot, have their left ear "tipped" for easy identification, released back into their original territory, and are cared for and monitored on an on-going basis. As of 09/07/2016, we have neutered or spayed 224 cats for 2016. Our organization has grown and also has our TNR. We receive many calls a week for help with stray, injured or abandoned cats. Trying to contend with these requests takes time, money and manpower. Our success depends on donations of money, food and other necessary items. We have volunteers who are very dedicated to our organization and welcome all that want to help with our organization.
