The DC Center for the LGBT Community

The DC Center for the LGBT Community educates, empowers, celebrates, and connects the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities.

To fulfill our mission, we focus on four core areas: health and wellness, arts & culture, social & peer support, and advocacy and community building.

The DC Center for the LGBT Community offers individual and group mental health support services for LGBTQ survivors of violence and crime in the District of Columbia. This includes any individual or couple that has experienced any of the following types of victimization: intimate partner violence/domestic violence, sexual and/or physical assault, hate crime (racial, religious, gender, sexual orientation, and/or other type of hate crime), bullying, physical abuse/neglect, teen dating victimization, and family violence. 

Center Arts is the home for our arts and cultural programs. This includes the Reel Affirmations Film Festival and RA XTRA: Our Monthly LGBTQ Film Series, the OutWrite LGBT Book Festival, and the DC Queer Theatre Festival.  In addition, the DC Center regularly exhibits visual art collections in the Center Arts Gallery.

The DC Center is home to  our Trans and Non Binary Support Group, our  GenderQueer Discussion group, our  Center Aging support group for our Older Adult community members, our Persons of Color support group, our Universal Pride support group for our community members with disabilities, "Gay District" our peer group for men ages 18-35,  "Women in their Twenties and  Thirties" peer group and SO MUCH MORE.

Your donation supports our advocacy and community building efforts through our Center Global  program which provides emergency assistance to LGBT asylees and refugees as well as Center Careers program which is our job club just to name a few programs!
