RICHLAND GIVES IS BACK!
Join your community in giving back to your favorite local non-profit organizations. The Friendly House has raised over $40,000 for the organization during Richland Gives since 2016. Help us continue this momentum by making online donations to Friendly House beginning November 16 and ending on Giving Tuesday, December 1.
Friendly House, a United Way of Richland County Agency, supports the youth and families in the community by providing Pre-School for ages 3-5, Afterschool and Summer Fun programs for ages 5-12, swim lessons, basketball leagues, open gym, weight room and aquatic programs, monthly senior citizen luncheons, clothing and coat giveaways, and many programs coordinating with other community outreach services. Friendly House also owns and operates two summer camp, Happy Hollow Day Camp and Hidden Hollow Camp, where campers and counselors make lasting memories and forever friendships.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Friendly House closed all programming from mid-March to the end of May. During the closure Friendly House made the decision to cancel not only the school age Summer Fun Program, but also Hidden Hollow Resident Camp, therefore losing the income that comes with those programs. The Preschool and Happy Hollow Day Camp were permitted to reopen in June, but at a third of their normal capacity.
In September, the Friendly House Afterschool Program reopened with a limited number of school age kids. Friendly House is continually looking forward in ways to not only give the children enrolled in these programs a valuable and safe experience, but also be supportive of the health and safety of our staff and administration, but our supportive and generous community as well.
MISSION STATEMENT: Directing programs toward the strengthening of family life and character building by providing recreational, educational, health and fitness, crime prevention, pre-school and camping programs to our immediate neighborhood and our community as a whole, at a cost that everyone can afford.
