The Loft is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting excellence by providing a safe, fun, and educational, culturally enriching atmosphere in which children can reach their full individual, social, emotional and academic potential. The Loft is a place where kids are free to be kids. In the simplest of terms, The Loft help
these children discover their own value by seeing themselves through the eyes of others.
This atmosphere of acceptance is what The Loft offer the youth of New Orleans, children
who may not often hear that they are valued, believed in, and loved. At The Loft children
come to embrace that fact.

Driven by a philosophy that every life has a plan and a purpose,The Loft is a place where kids come and participate in activities and receive support that help them identify and follow those plans. Students from impoverished neighborhoods and low income families are the target market for the program. This passionate organization help kids change their lives-and realize their full potential. And for many, The Loft help them choose positive paths they otherwise may never have chosen.

The Loft is an out -of school time program that serve disadvantaged youth during the
after -school hours and from 8 a.m. to 3p.m during the summer. The program is free to
the participants and serve children from families with economically disadvantaged
backgrounds, living at or below the poverty level.

The goal of The Loft is to educate
children, which is the long term solution to poverty. The purpose is to demolish
ignorance and poverty through interactive program activities for the children. The overall
goal of the program is to provide learning experiences to help at-risk children develop
fundamental educational tools. These tools include basic literacy, cognitive, social,
emotional, and physical skills necessary for successful fulfilling school performance it is
not limited to that. The Loft's goals extend further to foster caring and supportive
relationships with parents. The program require parents to get involved with their
children's learning experience, participate in activities and perform service hours in
different aspects of the program. The Loft also guide parents through mini workshop-
style parent meetings on how to better assist their children and how to get more
involved in their education.
