Substance use disorder affects millions of Americans, with staggering numbers of overdose deaths reported annually. In 2022 alone, 107,941 drug overdose deaths were recorded, highlighting a concerning rise in fatalities involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl (NIDA, 2024). In Texas, statistics indicate that 1 in 10 individuals will face SUD in their lifetime, with approximately 1 in 2,000 experiencing a fatal overdose. Shockingly, nearly 94% of those affected in Texas do not receive necessary treatment.

The Phoenix addresses these challenges head-on through innovative programming, offering vital support and connection to those choosing recovery over isolation.

Who We Are:

The Phoenix is a grassroots, peer-to-peer recovery movement that has positively impacted over 490,000 individuals across 42 states and 163 counties. Our mission is simple yet profound: we provide volunteer-led programs that cultivate supportive communities, promote physical fitness, and foster mental wellness, all without reliance on drugs or alcohol. Beyond the activities themselves, we prioritize social connections, emotional safety at our events, and the creation of environments where true healing and transformation can occur.

The Phoenix is fueling a movement that builds on the power of community and belonging to change how society approaches addiction and recovery. Through hundreds of weekly sober events and activities, we’re creating safe spaces for all individuals to connect, build friendships, find support, and have fun.

The DFW is dedicated to enriching the lives of our participants in meaningful and measurable ways. Every member of the Phoenix community is valued, respected, and supported on their journey toward recovery and overall wellness.

Our Needs:

To expand our impact, we aim to raise $15,000. These funds will enhance our free programming, including treatment center activities, sober social events, and physical fitness opportunities. The support of local partners and generous donors like you is crucial in keeping our programs accessible and impactful for the communities we serve.

While our digital platform, including The Phoenix app launched in 2021, continues growing, in-person gatherings remain essential for fostering community and providing direct support. The app serves as a tool to deepen participant connections, allowing easy registration for classes and events, group participation, and progress tracking—all accessible for free on the Apple Store and Google Play.

Join us in exploring The Phoenix and discover how we can build stronger, healthier communities where everyone can thrive without the need for drugs or alcohol.
