The Place

The Place is a 48-year-old nonprofit organization with offices in Cumming and Dawsonville, GA. Our mission is to help people in Forsyth and Dawson Counties with basic emergency needs and to become self-sustaining. Our vision is to improve lives compassionately and collaboratively using the resources in our community. The Place exists to break the cycle of poverty by providing resources, assistance, programs, services, and opportunities to disadvantaged residents of Forsyth and Dawson Counties. The Place was founded in 1975 by four nuns who saw a need to assist the poor with financial needs, clothing, shelter, food, medical assistance, and even tutoring children. Today, we have evolved into a holistic and comprehensive organization, expanding our reach and programming to include Client Choice Food Pantry, Direct Emergency Financial Assistance, Workforce Development & Education Program, Youth Outreach, and Senior Services. Our overall objective is to meet the needs of the community wherever needed.
