New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch Foundation Inc

At the heart of The Ranches is our residential program, which offers a family-based living environment for youth ages 12 to 17 years. 

Children at The Ranches come to us for guidance and support because of difficulties at home and/or school.  Our residents live on The Ranch in family-style cottages, and while it varies with each child's circumstances, a typical length of stay is 12 - 18 months. 

Upon entry into the program, a care plan is created to address the needs of each child. A fully accredited, on campus school offers the residents in our care the small class size and individual attention they need to get their education back on track. Many also find assistance through our 4-H animal program, where they rebuild their self-confidence by nurturing animals and developing their social and leadership skills. 

EQUINE GESTALT COACHING

Throughout our history, we have worked to stay current and innovative in our approach to healing and hope.  We have added equine Gestalt Coaching to our program through Lani Kull, our Vice President for program Services, and her experiential learning at Touched by a Horse. While Lani has always been effective at reaching our toughest and most stubborn clients, through Equine Gestalt Coaching she is able to add exponentially to the kid's lives through her process. By encouraging and helping kids to partner with horses, we know the EGC, when combined with our educational and life skills programs, helps us to rekindle hope in the youth that we have the honor of serving. 

The goal of The Ranches program is to keep families together whenever possible and to reunite families who have experiences separation for a period of time. The program is based on Christian principles and strive to instill values that will provide the children with the skills and qualities they need to live successfully. The Ranches does not accept government funding. We depend on the donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and churches to subsidize programs for youth and their families who need assistance navigating the difficult teenage years.
