Our Mission

The Foundation’s mission is to fund research for Metastatic Breast Cancer that provides better treatment options, improves quality of life for patients, and will one day lead to a cure.

What is MBC?

Metastatic Breast Cancer, Stage IV, or advanced breast cancer, is a form of breast cancer in which the disease has spread beyond the breast into other parts of the body. The most common sites of metastases are the bones, lungs, liver and brain.

It is estimated that over 155,000 Americans are currently living with metastatic breast cancer.

Facts

•Treatment for metastatic breast cancer is life-long and focuses on control of the disease and quality of life.

•Every case of metastatic breast cancer is highly individual–no two cancers are the same.

•Young people, as well as men, can be diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.

•Up to 20% to 30% of people initially diagnosed with early-stage disease will develop  metastatic breast cancer.

•Metastatic /breast cancer accounts for over 40,000 deaths annually in the U.S.

•The median survival after diagnosis is 3 years.

•More funding for research is needed to save lives.
