THINC Park City's collective mission is to raise public awareness and to help initiate action in order to preserve and protect Park City’s Historic Old Town. We believe that development and growth can be done responsibly without harmful impact on Park City’s existing community or natural environment.

THINC Park City is a 501c(3) non-profit organization comprised of hundreds of community members in response to the threat of the development of Treasure Hill.

TREASURE HILL

Park City, Utah is under attack from the threat of a monstrous 1.1 million square foot development project in the heart of Historic Old Town.

The Treasure Hill project is nearly 3 times larger than what was approved back in 1986.

HELP US SAVE TREASURE HILL AND DONATE TODAY

  • Say no to 1,100,000 sq. ft. of total development (nearly the size of 10 super Walmarts).
  •  Say no to 250,000 sq. ft. of underground parking.
  • Say no to 100’ high excavation scars that will be visible all over town.
  • Say no to extensive blasting and dynamite that will be needed if approved.
  • Say no to the largest convention center space in all of park city and summit county.
  • Say no to 13 buildings including many high rise towers some as much as 10 stories high.
  • Say no to increased traffic and dangerous conditions on our narrow old town streets.
  • Say no to the destruction of trees and vital wildlife habitat.
  • Say no to 10 years or more of construction.
  • Say no to 300 heavy trucks per day on existing streets of park city’s residential historic district.
  • Say no to the destruction of park city’s landmark Treasure Hill.

The proposed 1,100,000+ sq ft Treasure Hill development is excessive, unreasonable and intolerable. After reviewing the scaled model of the project at the Planning Commission meeting it is evident that the size, mass and scale of the project are completely incompatible with Park City and would cause irreparable damage to the historical integrity of the town we all love. The applicant has also failed to present any workable solution to mitigate the significant increase in traffic and safety issues that the proposed development would produce. Traffic and safety are issues that already significant challenges in Park City.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

THINC has hired an attorney (Charles Stormont) to help us preserve the landmark Treasure Hill.  This costs money and we need your help!

We oppose the proposed Treasure Hill development because it would:

  • Challenge the historical character and integrity of Old Town with a skyline of high rise buildings - many over 10 stories high - immediately adjacent to existing residential homes
  • Seriously intensify traffic congestion on HWY's 224, 248, in and around PCMR, Old Town and on Main Street
  • Significantly compromise the walk-ability and safety of our streets for residents and tourists
  • Challenge access to emergency care and fire protection in Old Town
  • Cause the excavation of tons of environmentally sensitive lands, including thousands of trees
  • Cause on-going high volume construction noise and traffic for 7-15 years
  • Cause the Town Lift to be MOVED - skiers will have to take a cabriolet up to the development site and then transfer to a new ski lift
  • Reduce open space we enjoy
  • Decrease access to trails
  • Potentially cause severe negative impact on the quality of our water system
  • Compromise the natural drainage of the site and negatively impact water run-off from the mountain
  • Divert business from Main Street by offering ski rentals, restaurants, bars and other retail business at the project site

Get involved, voice your concerns, and help us save Treasure Hill!

PLEASE DONATE TODAY… Your donations are tax deductible and will go directly to helping in the fight to stop the massive proposed development.

All THINC Core Group members are volunteers who have joined the cause to support our mission in protecting the historical integrity of Old Town Park City.
