Founded in 2009, a tiny group of determined and dedicated Silicon Valley women engineers (led by Rupa) with 10-15 years in the field, decided to meet monthly at Rupa’s house to share technical knowledge, network and advance in their careers.

Slowly, over several years, the group grew to an impressive 3000+ women engineers/allies and CodeChix became a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2012.

In 2020, we rebranded to Thrive-WiSE (where “WiSE” stands for “Women in Science and Engineering”) to grow our program portfolio to address the systemic issues in the workplace.

Since the first meeting, in May 2009, CodeChix (DBA Thrive-WiSE) has led the way, quietly, to address the dropout rate of senior women engineers and technologists in the industry.   In 2019, we expanded our programs to include technical Product, Program and Project Managers (PM’s).  In 2020, we expanded to offer our Safe Space Program (vetted for 5 years) and our unique Ally Training for Engineers and PM’s to corporations to address systemic issues in the workplace and make results-driven progress on our mission.

In 2021-2023, we are focusing on sustenance and addressing the needs of our members who are affected by the economic downturn and mass layoffs in the tech industry through mentorship and workshops/trainings.

Our primary focus is to retain the accomplished, driven and stellar women in Engineering and Science in the tech industry through technical and behavioral programs to drive a seismic shift in the workplace cultures to help women achieve success in their careers.
