Formerly known as Therapeutic Horsemanship, TREE House (TH) was founded in 1975 and has accomplished much over its 39-year history − growing from five riders the first year to now serving approximately 250 individuals with disabilities annually. TH’s mission is to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families through therapy, recreation, education, and exploration.
Nationally accredited by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (formerly known as NARHA), TH is ranked as one of the top therapeutic riding programs in the country.
Approximately 76 percent of the children TH serves are under the age of 18. Clients participating in TH’s programs have some type of disability including, but not limited to: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, CVA/Stroke, Developmental Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Cord Injuries, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Mental Retardation, and Spina Bifida.
TH provides year-round therapy services by licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists. TH's main program is Hippotherapy, a dynamic treatment program that uses the movement of the horse as the therapy tool to help individuals with disabilities increase their balance, control of movement, muscle strength, and motor planning skills.
In 2014, TH tripled the size of its unique, inclusionary summer camp program for children with and without disabilities. Led by licensed therapists, the summer camp is designed so that kids of all abilities can participate and have fun!
TH also offers Equine Experiential Learning and Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy programs that serve clients coping with social, emotional, behavioral, and or mental heath issues and the "TH Freedom Reins" program that provides therapy to injured service personnel or veterans.
Demand for our services and programs continues to grow. But we can't do it without the support of individuals, civic groups, businesses, churches, and foundations. We hope you will partner with us to help local children and adults with disabilities reach their potential by making a donation today!
