Thurston Community Media

A nonprofit organization

Thurston Community Media is a nonprofit community media arts organization in Olympia. We belive a healthy community is engaged, communication tools should be easily accessible, and everyone has the right to tell their story in their authentic voice.

We manifest this belief by making media tools, training, and distribution platforms available to individuals and organizations so they can create and share their own media messages.

TOOLS: TCMedia's community media facility is a maker space for content creators. It houses a fully equipped television production studio, professional video editing suites, portable video camcorders, DSLR cameras and accessories for field production and digital cinematography.

TRAINING: Our media education program offers more 30 workshops annually, teaching media production skills to adults and youth. Our workshops range from camcorder operation to digital movie making; animation and editing to TV studio production.

The Young Producers Network (YPN) summer program engages youth ages 8 to 16.  These week-long camps include movie-making, animation, news and journalism, and tv production. Youth learn STEM/STEAM concepts, teamwork, media literacy, while stretching their creative muscles.

DISTRIBUTION: Once content is created, media makers can distribute their work to audiences through our local cable channel 22, andour channels on ROKU, AppleTV, Amazon FireTV streaming services.

Local media is in decline. TCMedia makes it possible for individuals and organizations to create hyper-local content by, for, and about our community.
