The Interfaith Alliance of Idaho collaborates with progressive organizations, congregations and people of faith, conscience and goodwill, to develop strategies that SUPPORT OUR DEMOCRACY and the POSITIVE AND HEALING ROLES OF FAITH in Idaho.

Founded in 1999, TIA-Idaho leads and facilitates community dialogue, and advocates aggressively for an environment of compassion, inclusion, respect and understanding.  Our proud legacy of advocacy includes championing the rights of farmworkers, LGBTQIA, minorities, women, children, immigrants, and people experiencing homelessness, among others.

We are a dynamic organization actively involved in many activies that affect the community.  Your donations have allowed us to make progress in many areas.  The following are some of the activities we have contributed to or sponsored this year:

  • Original sponsor: Interfaith Sanctuary Homeless Shelter
  • Brought Donna Redwing as Keynote speaker for the annual Pam Baldwin Memorial Workshop and Banquet,
  • In collaboration with The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, we have resurrected, and used widely, the sign: “Not in Our Town, Not in Our State: Idaho is Too Great for Hate”
  • 2-day Workshop for Youth: “Stop the Bullying/Stop the Hate.”
  • “We Serve Everyone Only” Campaign for businesses
  • Active and responsive FaceBook posting, nearly daily, of current local and national controversial issues
  • Sponsorship and co-sponsorship of rallies, vigils and demonstrations (Welcoming Refugees, Add the Words/LGBT Rights, Countering Anti-Muslim Actions, Advocating for Closing the Healthcare Gap)
  • Fiscal sponsor: “Healing Our Future: Interfaith Dialogue”
  • Very active legislative involvement, meeting with legislators, legislative leaders, and governor’s staff
  • “Let Them Live” campaign to protect critically ill, dying or injured children at risk of faith-based medical neglect
  • Powerful Town Hall Forum in the Capitol to discuss the need for legislation to protect children and prevent the 2-4 children/year, known to die, from lack of care

We have committed ourselves to staying current and educated by attending national conferences: “Activists Mobilizing for Power” (AMP in Portland), “National Faith and Family Conference” (SLC, Utah), “National Creating Change Conference” (Chicago)

We need funding to continue these activities, as well as:

  • Develop a Rapid Response Program
  • Develop a more complete statewide service network
  • Provide statewide trainings and voter registration
  • Develop video PSAs for statewide distribution
  • Increase our communication distribution (hard copy, as well as video and electronic) of informational materials and tool kits.
  • Improve our communications and support of the Idaho Religious Leaders Network
