Almost 30 years of film!
Help support the Film Festival! The place of magical memories.
For many of us, the film festival was the first time we saw someone like us up on the screen, or felt comfortable holding hands in the theater. Maybe it was where you met your spouse or made new friends and connected with old ones. The films were a part of our coming of age and our enlightening.
We hope you will help us grow the festival this year. We have great plans to build the audience, once again create community and build for a rousing 30th anniversary celebration next year.
We are back at the Tampa Theatre this year as our home base. Of course we will still show films in St Pete, but with the new renovations, we are excited to be back.
But ticket sales cover only part of our expenses so we need you, the audience to help us get there and bring the festival back to the heart of the community!
About Friends of the Festival (TIGLFF)
Friends of the Festival, Inc. (FOF) is a non-profit (501c3) organization that produces the Tampa Bay International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, which began in 1990 through the outreach of several local community based organizations. The first Film Festival was created as a fundraiser under the name Pride Film Festival, followed by Suncoast Film Festival. Then in the late 1990’s became known as the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF) and in 2015 renamed the Tampa Bay International Gay, Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF).
Since 1989, TIGLFF has showcased thousands of films for the LGBT community of Tampa Bay. Located primarily at the historic Tampa Theatre on Franklin St., TIGLFF has helped usher in a renaissance of Tampa’s downtown.
In 2005 FOF began expanding content to include a year-round film series with screenings in both Tampa and St. Petersburg FL. Since 2015, the festival has committed to making its programming easily accessible to all of the communities that make up the entire Tampa Bay area.
As we celebrate our 29th annual Film Festival, we look forward to highlighting through film the artistic, social, and political changes that are impacting the global LGBT community.
