Tilton Library, Deerfield’s public library, was established in 1916 with funds bequeathed by Chauncey B. Tilton, a local grocer, and by municipal and private contributions.  The library provides a wide range of services to all in a friendly and welcoming environment and endeavors through its collections, programs and services to help meet the informational, cultural and recreational needs of the people of Deerfield and Massachusetts.  The library is open 31 hours per week and its digital collections are available at any time.

The library’s operating budget is funded primarily by an annual appropriation from the town of Deerfield, fundraising by Tilton Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Friends of Tilton, Inc. and other gifts and grants.  Donations of any amount are welcome.
