Tomorrow's Rainbow Inc

Tomorrow’s Rainbow is the vision of its founder, Abby Mosher, after a family tragedy identified the lack of community resources, understanding and awareness for the forgotten mourners, our bereaved children.  Our mission is to provide an emotionally safe environment for hope and healing through guidance and support to grieving children, teens and their families.  At Tomorrow’s Rainbow the children are provided with all the necessary tools to take their own unique grief journey in a way that is meaningful to them.  Our program integrates two best practice models of facilitated peer support groups and therapeutic play with equine assisted growth and learning activities.  The result is a highly effective and innovative program conducted in an emotionally safe environment that guides grieving children toward a resilient and successful future.  All grief support programs at Tomorrow’s Rainbow are free of charge.

 

Grieving children are at great risk of detrimental emotional and physical behaviors.  Studies show that children supported in their grief are five times less likely to complete a suicide, ten times less likely to get involved in substance abuse and twenty times less likely to develop a behavioral disorder.  Without support to guide a child through healthy avenues of expression in dealing with the grief, grieving children are at a greater risk of developing behavioral and emotional problems such as anxiety, substance abuse, poor academic performance, aggression, fear of death, low self-confidence, social isolation, depression and even suicide.

 

Tomorrow’s Rainbow relies solely on private and corporate donations and most of the staff are volunteers.  We receive no government funding.  Young families experiencing the death of a loved one often are financially devastated.  It is imperative that these families are relieved of the burden of wondering how they will afford grief support for their family.  Tomorrow’s Rainbow only will continue to exist with community financial support, awareness and advocacy.
